Payments for water supply and wastewater constitute a significant part of the costs for many CHP-plants. The issue of saving water will only increase, as water tariffs are indexed annually on average, significantly increasing the rate of inflation.

The main part of water costs at CHP-plants associated with the area of operation of circulation systems and is accounted for by water consumption and sanitation for technological needs, up to 70% of which is spent on purging. Due to the complexity of technological schemes of circulating water supply systems, a large number of units to control actions with a low level of automation, enormous length, as well as a high degree of deterioration of shut-off valves, networks and communications, it is impossible to guarantee the preservation of the achieved positive dynamics of decline over the horizon of two or more years.

Optimization of the water chemistry in circulation systems using scale and corrosion inhibitors reduces water costs (by increasing the recirculation rate) and reduces the risks of calcium deposits on heat exchanging surfaces.
